SBISD is partnering with the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation to enhance literacy with new Science of Reading in Action (SORIA) kits. This initiative aims to boost reading and writing skills across the district. “The revamped curriculum and incredible support truly excite me,” says Renee Mendez, a first-grade teacher at Westwood Elementary.

Bunker Hill Elementary has earned a prestigious award in the 2024-25 Exhibit of School Architecture, recognizing its exceptional design and planning. Selected from 41 standout projects, this honor highlights the school's innovative design, including courtyards, an outdoor learning plaza, and collaborative learning spaces—all part of the successful 2017 Bond Program.
