The SBISD Board of Trustees will hold its March Regular Meeting next Monday, March 25, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Duncan F. Klussmann Education Center, located at 9016 Westview Dr., 77055.
On November 6, 2023, the SBISD Board of Trustees approved a resolution pausing the bond programs for the four remaining elementary school replacement projects (Sherwood, Spring Shadows, Thornwood and Terrace elementary schools) to provide the district time to conduct an operations cost review. When the resolution was approved, the district pledged to conduct this review as swiftly as possible.
At their March 4, 2024 Board Workshop meeting, Trustees heard a presentation titled, “Discussion of Boundary Review and Recommendations for the 2025-2026 school year.” This presentation addressed proposed boundary shifts beginning for the 2025-2026 school year impacting Thornwood, Sherwood, Terrace and Memorial Drive Elementary schools and a recommendation not to rebuild Spring Shadows Elementary and to rezone Spring Shadows students to Terrace, Pine Shadows and Buffalo Creek elementary schools. The recommendations put forth are related to the unpausing of the bond programs (March 4, 2024 Board Workshop meeting agenda).
At their March Regular Meeting next Monday, Trustees will vote on proposed boundary shifts recommended by district administration as noted above.
Should the Board vote to approve these recommendations, the next step in the unpausing of the bond programs would be Board consideration of the district’s proposed plan for unpausing the bond programs for the rebuilding of Sherwood, Terrace and Thornwood elementary schools. The district would present the proposed plan at the Board’s Spring Retreat on April 5, 2024
