SEPTEMBER 2019

Thank you, donors!

BridgeUp at Menninger

The Menninger Clinic’s BridgeUp at Menninger has awarded SBISD, through SBEF, a Magic Grant in the amount of $150,000. The grant will be used by Spring Woods Middle School in partnership with Spring Branch Community Health Center and Harris County’s Community Youth Services to pilot a new approach to student wellness. Activities will align the school’s multi-tiered intervention program with academic goals, implement Youth Mental Health First Aid training, execute Character Strong and high-risk behavior prevention curriculums and establish program evaluation and communication with school/community partners.

Thank you, Menninger Clinic!

SBEF School Supply Project

SBEF’s 2019 School Supply Project was a rousing success, according to Co-chairs Becky Fenn and Kristi Robishaw. For the first time, economically disadvantaged students from every SBISD Title 1 elementary AND middle schools received supplies – one-third the SBISD student population!

SBEF provided supplies for 7,729 students. Our partners supplied 5,874 students. That’s 13,603 pupils who started school ready to work toward success!

Thank you to our donors: Royal Bank of Canada, $15,000; Wells Fargo, $5,000; First Community Credit Union, $3,000; Family Point Resources, $2,000; and innumerable community members. And many thanks to our In-Kind Partners: Brenda and John Duncan YMCA, Trotter Family YMCA, MetroNational, Air Liquide, Courtyard by Marriott and friends of Vicki Louis.
